BOTOX® Cosmetic injections typically last from 3-6 months. There are rare side effects such as a droopy eye, and are only temporary. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are a great way to reduce your facial wrinkles. With continued use of BOTOX®Cosmetic your wrinkles become less and less noticable and frequently disappear. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are not a permanent solution to wrinkles. You must keep up with your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments or your wrinkles will come back. Most people come in 2-3 times per year for BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
BOTOX® Injection for sweating (Hyperhydrosis)
For the past 4 years, it has also been recognized that BOTOX® can dramatically reduce excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis) If injected under the arms, it can often reduce sweating completely. People usually request re-injecting 6 – 9 months later, even though only some of the sweating has returned.
A significant reduction in sweating can be achieved in the hands. Good improvement is usually seen that lasts up to 6 months. Many injections are often needed and an anaesthetic, or freezing, may be required before hand treatment.
BOTOX® Injection for Migraine and Tension Headaches
BOTOX® Cosmetic is extremely effective in treating migraine and tension headaches. Clinical studies are now being performed using BOTOX® Cosmetic for treating migraine headaches. The duration of action of BOTOX® migraine prevention varies from about 10 to 13 weeks. Like other migraine preventives, the onset of effect may take a few weeks.
